Black-owned Brand Spotlight---Australia Edition: Iftiimo Natural Skincare

Iftiimo is an Australian-based black-owned natural beauty brand. Qatan Sagaale, a clinical research professional and beauty enthusiast, created the brand.

With a strong background in clinical research and a strong passion for beauty, the combination of beauty and clinical research made perfect sense. As a result, a line of highly researched, high-quality skincare and haircare products made with the finest natural ingredients has been created.

The exceptional, almost poetic brand name "Iftiimo" was inspired by the Somali word "Iftiin," which means "to shine, glow, or light." A fitting name for a company that manufactures natural hair and skin care products that nourish, protect, and uplift.

After years of frustration, deliberation, and experimentation, Qatan was inspired to create Iftiimo. The realization that the hair and skincare markets lacked high-quality naturally derived products that catered to people of color fueled the brand's growth.

Iftiimo launched its debut product in April 2019 after extensive testing and positive feedback from friends and family. The conditioning hair growth oil was the first product to be released, and it is still one of the most popular in the Iftiimo line.

Since its inception in 2019, the brand has grown exponentially, with more handmade products being added to the lineup. Their product line includes Brahmi + Amla hair oil, which is formulated with Indian Gooseberry and Brahmi, both of which are potent ingredients for protecting and nourishing the hair.

Brahmi contains potent antioxidants that help to strengthen blood vessels and stimulate hair growth while also nourishing the scalp.

The phytonutrients and vitamins found in Indian gooseberry help to oxygenate the scalp and increase blood circulation. It also contains vitamin C, which has been shown to aid in the production of collagen and promote healthy hair growth.

Iftiimo also makes a Turmeric and Coffee Exfoliating soap, which aids in the treatment of hyperpigmentation, acne scars, cellulite, and stretch marks. It brightens and energizes the skin, removing dull and lifeless skin.

Iftiimo takes pride in producing luxurious, clean beauty products that nourish, protect, and replenish the skin, hair, and environment without the use of harmful chemicals that harm the skin, hair, and environment. Their sole mission is to develop organic hair and beauty products that people adore and rely on.

Sustainability is a fundamental goal for Iftitmo, which combines ancient African and Ayurvedic herbs, butters, and oils. All ingredients are sourced responsibly to avoid destabilizing the communities that produce the raw materials used in the formulation of Iftiimo products.

Qatan is a passionate force who continues to raise the bar for natural and clean beauty products in Australia's independent beauty industry.

As the number of black and female-owned businesses in Australia grows, it is critical that we support and nurture brands like Iftiimo in order to provide the ideal environment for them to thrive and flourish in Australia and globally.
